Install the posts with the open C-channel parallel to the fence line.
Place one spring clamp on each post at the proper height.
Only two clamps are needed to install the entire fence. |
Cut the stringer to the proper length and place it on the clamps.
The stringer will balance on the flat upper surfaces of the clamps.
Use any type of long shaft power bit to fasten the stringer to the post with screws inserted through the opening in the C-channel.
The screws are attached at an angle across the grain providing an extremely strong bond between stringer and post. |
Attach the pickets to the stringers. The pickets can be attached to either side of the stringers. Unlike a hat-channel post, there is no need to worry about installing the VersaPost "backwards" by mistake. |
The post can be covered using an additional fence board, they can be made to look like a 4x4 wood post or they can even be disguised as a black steel post. The VersaPost is easier to cover than a hat-channel post. End, corner and gate posts can also be covered easily.
Corner posts require no special clips or brackets. Attach the stringers to the side of the post in the direction of the fence. The pickets are then installed in the usual manner.
